Why Does God Allow Bad Things To Happen To Good People?

Has any other question been more damaging to the Christian faith than this One? How many countless lives have been affected because people turned their backs on God and lost their faith because something bad happened to them or a loved one? I don't think anyone truly knows why God does what He does, but I know one thing. Everything He does or allows to happen in this world is in accordance to His will. The problem is, our feeble human minds can't comprehend His will and this is this reason why people allow bad things to turn them away from the faith.

 

The Bible teaches us, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9
We simply do not understand His will or plan in our lives!
I believe that God hates these bad things in life as much or more than you and I. But, He has a way of using these bad things in life to accomplish wonderful good things! This is one reason why God allows evil into our world when He has the power to stop it before it ever happens! God sometimes uses bad things in our lives for His glory!

 

I firmly believe that if we pray and ask for understanding of God's will when bad things happen to us, He will give us this understanding and our faith will become stronger than ever before!
Let us also not forget that while our loving God the Father is real and alive on this earth. It is also true that his nemeses the Devil is just as real and alive. We know that God certainly has the power to subdue and control Satan, but God gave Satan dominion over the earth.

 

Adam was first given dominion over the earth in Genesis 1:28 "God blessed them and said to them, ... Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.'"
But, man lost dominion over the earth to Satan. "We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one." 1 John 5:19

 

How would the Devil been allowed to tempt God's only beloved Son in the desert, if dominion was not his?
Sometimes, I think bad things happen to good people because the will of Satan is allowed to happen. Just as with Job in the Old Testament, God sometimes allows Satan to interact with man and cause mankind to suffer.

 

Are you someone who has had their faith shattered because of something bad that happened to you or someone you love? If so, please take just a few minutes and pray to God first for forgiveness, then ask him to reveal to you his will for this tragedy in your life. If you believe with all your heart and have faith that God will answer your prayer, I promise He will reveal his will to you and your faith will be restored and become stronger than ever before!
